Dyna-HRP is an organoclay activator, designed to realize quick yield of organoclay in the oil-base mud. This is particularly important when one or more following conditions exist causing the organoclay not able to develop sufficient rheology such as YP (Yield Point) and gel strengths at the initial stage:
1. The organoclay is dispersed into the base oil with not sufficiently strong mixing, due to the limited capacity of the mixing equipment.
2. Short mixing time when the organoclay is dispersed into the base oil.
So, the initial rheology of the oil-base mud is not sufficiently high due to incomplete yield of the organoclay. After several circulations of the mud in the wellbore, full yield of organoclay is achieved. This will cause the drilling operator to add too much organoclay initially, and the mud will have excessively and undesired high rheology later.
3. The base oil contains low aromatics.
It is found when the base oil contains high aromatics such as some diesel, the organoclay will yield faster than in some mineral oils containing low aromatics.
4. The temperature of the base oil is low when organoclay is dispersed into the base oil.
5. The base oil has low viscosity and the oil/water ratio of the oil-base mud is high, say 95:5 or even 100:0 (whole-oil mud), so that the mud has low rheology and low suspension capacity.
Dyna-HRP is your ideal option when above conditions exist. Through optimization of the mud formulation, Dyna-HRP can work together with organoclay to give you desired mud property.
Dyna-HRP is mainly composed of polyamide material. When properly handling and operation, it will not cause health and environmental problem.
